I finally got up my courage and tried making macarons. I'd been wanting to try making these for so long, but have to admit I was intimidated by the success/failure stories I'd heard. Last Friday I just jumped right in and guess what?! They turned out....they had feet. I actually got a bit teary as I pulled them from the oven and then I could not stop smiling. These are chocolate with espresso buttercream filling. I'm thinking of trying lemon next. I'll talk more about how I feel about these little treats later next week.
I still haven't got our book club off the ground, but I'm hoping to get it started soon. The nice people at Kensington Publishing sent me an early copy of Laura Levine's upcoming book, Murder Has Nine Lives. I just LOVE this series. It is laugh out loud funny. I'll have a giveaway copy too, so be watching for that.
My mom, sister and I enjoyed a delicious cocktail over the weekend... Malibu Sunset. If you've never had one before, it's coconut rum, pineapple juice and a splash of grenadine. So yummy!
Mike and I have been watching American Crime Story (The People v. OJ Simpson). It is so good, I'm a bit obsessed with it. I love getting a glimpse into the real lives of his lawyers and the prosecutors.
WV Radio is hosting a Second Chance Prom in May. My sister and her husband are going, but Mike and I are undecided. Neither of us dance very much and Mike is not a dress up kind of guy. I'd be fine going to the casino instead, so we might just do that. Either way, we'll have a fun night out. If you're local and want a second chance at a magical evening, don't miss out!
Have a great weekend!
