A (Bigger) Big Boy Room

Right before Landon turned three, we redid his bedroom. It hasn't changed since, but he's outgrown the airplane theme and also needs new furniture with more storage space. We've been talking about how he'd like the room to look and he's wanting to go with an outdoor/campy theme. I don't like to go crazy with a theme, but I've found a few ideas that I like.

This  is actually a board I saw for a bathroom, but I think it would make a great bedroom too.

I really love this Adventure Forest by Tiffany Jayne art print

But what I think I'll end up doing is designing the room around this print. It's just perfect because our boy truly is our greatest adventure! And here's a peek at my rough draft design board. The colors are perfect for a young boy and it flows well with the colors through the rest of the house.  I'm excited to get started and hope to have his new room ready before summer break. I better get busy!

Have a great day!

Dress My Entertainment Center

This is a picture of our entertainment center.  I cannot decide how to decorate it.  I've had the same boring decorations on it for what seems like forever.  Any ideas?  I've thought about a monogrammed platter and floral arrangement for the top, but am not sure about the dropped top shelves.  And the glass shelves on either side of the TV, which are removable/adjustable. Matching topiaries perhaps?  I'd love to see your suggestions.  If you want to dress my entertainment center, send me an email with your ideas... thehillbillychicks {at} yahoo {dot} com.  I'll post the top 3 entries and select my favorite look. The winner will receive a $10 Starbucks card.  *Don't worry about the shelves on the very bottom or the drawers. I've got that covered.

Big Boy Room Reveal

Landon's big boy room is finally complete. It turned out wonderfully and he wants to spend all his time in there now. I still have some work to do on his headboard,  the closet and there's a few more accessories I'm looking for, but other than that, the room is complete.

The bedding is Kingston from Pottery Barn Kids.  I found the cute airplane pillows at HomeGoods and they were on clearance - all 3 pillows for less than $15. The cubby/storage unit and baskets are from Lowes.  My favorite thing in the room is the watercolor print from Rachelle Anne Miller.  The airplane figurine you see beneath it is Precious Moments. The great birth print and ABC/123 prints are from MosiesPosies. I love how she incorporated chevron into the birth print.

My mom and I made the curtains. They are actually made from sheets I saw and then tracked down on eBay. They were the inspiration for the room, along with the Rachelle Anne Miller print. I'm so pleased with how the room came together. It's  a cozy and fun space that has a theme without being too "themey". Perfect for our little boy to grow with.

Art Print | Landon's Big Boy Room

I'm still working on Landon's big boy room. It's been fun choosing all the things that will bring the room together. One thing I fell in love with the moment I saw it is this print from Rachelle Anne Miller. I just love the whimsy-ness of watercolors. The original did not match our color palette, but Rachelle was nice enough to customize one just for Landon's room. Take a look at her shop and you will FALL ~ IN ~ LOVE!! Her studio is closed right now but will reopen on October 1st.

I've also ordered a few more prints for his wall that I'll be sharing soon. And this rug from The Land of Nod. I can't wait to see how everything comes together.

Landon's Big Boy Room

I cannot believe our baby will soon be three years old. He's getting a new bedroom for his birthday...a big boy room. He loves airplanes and helicopters so I'm incorporating that into the redo. I found a set of "Flying High" sheets from Hillcrest that I'm turning into curtains and pillows. I'm trying to decide on bedding right now. I love the Kingston collection and this chambray duvet cover set, both from Pottery Barn Kids. Decision, decisions... I've also ordered the most adorable Precious Moments figurine and this great wall decal. After possibly adding an airplane lamp, that's as theme-y as I'm going to get. We're using an old Jenny Lind headboard we found in the basement of our old house. The walls and carpet in his room are a neutral light beige, so I won't be changing that.

I also want to add some monogrammed pillows and a few pieces of artwork. I'll share what I've found and created in an upcoming post. You'll see the completed room on August 18.

Can you tell I'm crazy-excited about his room? Landon came to us so fast {3 weeks}, I didn't have time to do my dream nursery. So I'm loving every minute of this.
