New Curtains

My mom and I are making new curtains for my living room. As soon as I saw the Indigo & Citron collection from Calico Corners, I fell in love. I'm using the Alexander Indigo fabric {pictured above} for my curtain panels and also for spring/summer napkins in the dining room. The fabric just instantly brightens a room. After adding in a few new toss pillows and an area rug, I'm going to feel like we've done a complete remodel.

I'm an amateur sewer at best, so I'll admit making curtains is intimidating for me. I made the curtains for Landon's bedroom and they turned out fine, so I'm hoping this will be just as easy. This is the most $$ I've ever spent on fabric for a DIY project {yikes!}.  Does anyone else find sewing machines pretty scary or is it just me? The bobbin tension, the thread knotting up...I've just never had a project go smoothly and I'm so thankful my mom always helps me out.

I'll show our finished room next month. Along with making curtains, I'm crazy busy packing for our upcoming vacation. It's been a long time coming and we cannot wait to get away for a while.

Don't forget to enter my Fabulous at Forty | Moose Munch giveaway. You can win a 6-pack of Moose Munch from Harry & David. And I'll have a few more giveaways coming up during Fabulous at Forty month.

  1. Love the fabric, I bet the curtains will turn out lovely. I'm scared of sewing machines and always have my mom help me with stuff, too. I can handle simple things, but anything more complex than sewing a straight line is beyond me. Can't wait to see your "after" photos!
